In order to access Usenet, a good Newsreader is needed. With all TigerUsenet accounts, you have access to a free version of Newsrover. However, if you wish to try another Newsreader, we’ve compiled a small list of alternatives dependent on your operating system:
For Windows 98-VISTA:
Newsbin Pro – This Newsreader has been around since 1995, and with each version since, they have provided a great deal of features in each. The program is shareware, with a one time $35.00 license fee which entitles you to unlimited upgrades for life.
Forte Agent – Another consideration is one of the oldest newsreaders around, Forte Agent. The features and functionality does take a bit of understanding, but offers solid support for Usenet. 3 month trial – Shareware $29.00 license
For Mac/OSX
Unison – This newsreader from Panic is one of the only Newsreaders that offer the same type of features and capabilities as its windows couterparts. The software is fairly easy to use and offers good support – 30 day trial – Shareware $24.95 license
For Linux
BinBot – BinBot is fairly new to the Newsreader arena, but offers a great layout and functionality for Unix users. BinBot is also compatible with both Mac and Windows as well as Linux. 30 Day free Trial, Shareware – $19.95
