Windows 7 Party Announced On Newsgroups
September 4th, 2009
Microsoft has teamed up with HouseParty.com to recruit more than a thousand hosts to hold Windows 7 house parties for the October 22nd launch.
Microsoft newsgroups have been discussing the new promotion since it was first announced earlier this morning.
The international event is set to coincide with the commercial availability of Windows 7 in the 13 nations it will initially be released in.
Besides the U.S., UK, and Canada, Houseparty.com is seeking potential hosts in Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Spain. The thing is, Australia won’t be among the launch countries. Holland is, but no recruiting is being done there.
Microsoft is teaming up with party planning service Houseparty.com to recruit a thousand or more hosts to hold Windows 7 house parties around the time of the product’s October 22 consumer launch.
The viral marketing idea is fueled by a free version of Windows Ultimate Signature Edition for party hosts, a $320.00 value.
If selected, hosts will receive a Windows Party Pack which contains most, if not all, the party favors needed for an operating system launch party.
Microsoft hopes and expects that party hosts and attendants will have the same excitement that Steve Balmer shares:
